3 KEY AGRI PROJECTS LAUNCHED IN BATAC

The Department of Agriculture launched three important initiatives yesterday, August 18, in Barangay Camandingan, City of Batac. These are the Sustainable Agroforestry Farm Enterprise – Bamboo Business Model (SAFE-BBM), the Gulayan sa Bayan (GSB) Project, and the Community-Based Nursery under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP).

The SAFE-BBM Project aims to improve soil health and increase productivity through modern agroforestry systems.

The GSB Project seeks to ensure a steady supply of nutritious vegetables for Filipino households.

The Community-Based Nursery under CFIDP supports coconut farmers by providing technical assistance, quality planting materials, and wider market opportunities for coconut-based products.

Mayor Markee Chua and Vice Mayor Albert Chua welcomed DA-High Value Crops Development Program Undersecretary Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero, Ilocos Norte Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos, Vice Governor Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc, DA-HVCD Program Director Joseph C. Manicad, DA RFO I OIC-Regional Executive Director John B. Pascual, Regional Technical Director for Operations Dennis I. Tactac, BFAR-RFO1 Regional Director Rosario Segundina P. Gaerlan, DA-ATI RTC I Center Director Jayvee Bryan G. Carillo, along with Ilocos Norte mayors who are recipients of the Gulayan sa Bayan Project.
