The City Government of Batac led by Mayor Markee R. Chua joined the Simultaneous Earthquake Drill this morning, October 17, 2025, in line with the directive of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte to strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure public safety.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) spearheaded the drill in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) led by FCINSP Claire C. Simbol, and the Philippine National Police (PNP) led by PLTCOL Jerome B. Wangkey.
City Government employees, nearby establishments, and partner schools — Immaculate Conception Academy, Batac Junior College, and Mariano Marcos Memorial Elementary School — simultaneously performed the drill, while other schools and barangays carried out the exercise in their respective areas.
A post-evaluation followed the drill to discuss the challenges encountered and identify areas for improvement to further strengthen the city’s disaster preparedness and response.
