BATAC COMMEMORATES 84TH ARAW NG KAGITINGAN IN JUNGLE CITY

·

The City Government of Batac together with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office led the commemoration of the 84th Araw ng Kagitingan at Jungle City, Barangay Camandingan. The site, which holds great historical importance, once served as the seat of the civil government of Ilocos Norte during the resistance movement against the Imperial Japanese forces in World War II.

A wreath-laying ceremony was led by Mayor Markee R. Chua, as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino veterans and heroes.

Prior to the wreath-laying ceremony, the Philippine Army led a Lakad ng Kalayaan (Freedom Walk) toward Jungle City.

The activity honored those who fought for the country’s freedom and served as a reminder of the courage, resilience, and patriotism that continue to inspire present and future generations.
