BATAC FARMERS’ FESTIVAL OPENS

·

The City Government of City of Batac officially opened the Farmers’ Festival 2026 today, launching a three-day celebration in honor of the city’s farmers.

This year’s festival was shortened from five days to three as a resource-saving measure amid the effects of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Activities such as the Search for Balasang ti Away, Grand Parade, and Float Competition were set aside. Despite this, the celebration remains strong in purpose.

The opening featured simultaneous activities across the city. A bamboo-growing initiative was held in various barangays to promote sustainability. A thanksgiving mass gathered the community in gratitude. The Kadiwa ng Pangulo and agri booths also opened, offering fresh, affordable, and locally grown products. The program also included the blessing of vehicles and distribution of agricultural equipment.

More than a festival, this is a tribute. It honors the farmers, the backbone of the community. Though simpler, the celebration remains strong, focused on appreciation and empowerment.

In their messages, Mayor Markee R. Chua and Vice Mayor Albert D. Chua reaffirmed the city government’s full support for the agricultural sector. They thanked the farmers for their hard work and dedication in putting food on every table.

The Farmers’ Festival continues over the next two days with activities not only centered on agriculture, but also in highlighting and discovering the talent and artistry of our farmers.
