BATAC REVIVES TRADITIONAL DAYO, OPENS NEW LIVESTOCK TRADING VENUE

·

The City Government of Batac, in partnership with the City of Batac Dayo Livestock Auction Market Association, officially launched today, June 21, the new venue for the city’s traditional Dayo or Livestock Auction Market located within the Batac Economic Zone or commonly known as Bagsakan area near the Batac Public Market.
A total of ₱405,000.00 in livestock trading transactions was recorded during the first day of operations, demonstrating the economic potential of the revived Dayo.
Dayo, a long-standing agricultural tradition in Batac and other parts of Ilocos, serves as a marketplace where farmers, livestock raisers, traders, and buyers gather to buy and sell livestock and poultry. Its revival aims to support the local livestock industry by providing an organized and accessible venue for trading while creating more opportunities for economic activity within the community.
Mayor Markee R. Chua reaffirmed the commitment of the City Government of Batac to support the growth and development of the local dayo and livestock sector through the continued improvement of the new site, strengthening the association, and expanding linkages with neighboring municipalities and provinces.

The former Dayo site in Barangay Tabug has recently undergone development, making way for infrastructure developments.
