Initial assistance has begun reaching vendors and workers of the Batac Public Market following the recent fire incident. Various food assistance were distributed from the support of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte headed by Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos and Vice Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, and the Office of Congressman Angelo Marcos Barba.
Vice Mayor Carlos Fariñas of Laoag City also personally turned over Php 100,000.00 in cash donations to support ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
A total of 132 stalls were damaged by the fire. The City Government of Batac continues to coordinate with partner agencies and stakeholders to provide assistance and help vendors recover and rebuild their livelihoods.
