The City Government of Batac celebrated Nutrition Month 2026 with the theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!”
Ms. Ma. Christine Dumlao, RND, Nutritionist IV of the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, served as the resource speaker and discussed the importance of proper nutrition and a healthy environment.
The celebration featured the NutriVideo Contest participated in by different schools in the city. Cumcumraas-Mangaddi-Pitpitac Elementary School emerged as Champion, followed by Hilario Valdez Memorial Elementary School as First Runner-Up, CBNHS-Rayuray as Second Runner-Up, and Crispina Marcos Valdez National High School as Third Runner-Up.
Day care pupils also showcased creative and nutritious-themed outfits in the NutriCostume Contest. Xiamelah Jo Pucan of Nagbacalan Child Development Center received the Best NutriCostume award.
As part of the program, grocery items and zinc-enriched rice from PhilRice were distributed to the families of 58 nutritionally at-risk preschool children. Brown rice was also provided to 50 participants. Meanwhile, the Department of Science and Technology conducted the free calibration of weighing scales.
The activity highlighted the City’s continuing commitment to improving community nutrition, supporting children’s well-being, and promoting a healthier environment.
