Our city’s identity is rooted in more than four centuries of history. Known as the “Home of Great Leaders,” Batac takes pride in the contributions of distinguished figures such as General Artemio Ricarte Y Vibora, Monsignor Gregorio Aglipay, and former President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, whose stories remain part of the city’s historical identity.
Beyond its rich history, the true spirit of Batac thrives in its culture, traditions, and people. It is reflected in the flavors that have become part of our identity — from the world-famous Batac Ilocos Empanada, known for its vibrant orange color due to achiote (annatto in Ilocano), the hearty Batac Miki to the city’s crispy Sitsaron, also known as Bagnet.
