With an aim to raise the level of awareness of local responders in the city in times of disasters, the Philippine Meteorological Society (PMS) in partnership with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) conducted a short seminar on Understanding Hydrometeorological Hazards to all our Punong Barangays and key personnel involved in disaster operations on February 17 at the Imelda Cultural Center.
Key points during the seminar were understanding the different hydrometeorological hazards such as tropical cyclones, thunderstorms and floods; and early warning signals.
After the seminar, the delegation led by the PMS President, Dr. Marcelino Villafuerte paid a courtesy call to Mayor Albert D. Chua.
Mayor Chua expressed his gratitude to the PMS for taking the time and effort to share their knowledge for a better understanding of the different weather conditions.
