To further boost the capabilities of Barangay Emergency Response Teams (BERT) as first responders in fire related emergencies, the City Government of Batac conducted a Firescuelympics on March 30-31, 2023.
Team 5 composed of Barangays Bil-loca, Barani, Acosta, Nagbacalan, Palongpong, Cangrunaan and Ben-agan emerged as the overall champion with a cash prize of Php 20,000.00.
The BERTs were grouped into six teams and competed in four events: Hose Laying and Replacement of Busted Hose, Bucket Relay, Flammable Liquid Fire Extinguishment, and Rescue and Transfer Relay Operation.
The competition served as the city’s culminating activity of the Fire Prevention Month. It was facilitated by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection – Batac.
1st Runner up – Team 1: Caunayan, Biningan, Magnuang, Tabug, Aglipay, Rayuray, Camguidan
2nd Runner up – Team 4: Naguirangan, Palpalicong, Parangopong, Bungon, San Julian, Nalupta, Dariwdiw
3rd Runner up – Team 2: Cal-laguip, Mabaleng, Quiling Norte, Camandingan, Valdez, Capacuan, Pimentel, Ablan
4th Runner up – Team 3: Sumader, Payao, Quiom, San Mateo, Lacub, Baoa East, Baoa West
5th Runner up – Team 6: Ricarte, Maipalig, San Pedro, Baligat, Quiling Sur, Colo, Baay
