CGB CONDUCTS DATA PRIVACY COMPLIANCE SEMINAR AND WORKSHOP FOR ENHANCED PUBLIC SERVICE

In an effort to further enhance public service by fostering transparency and strengthening data security, the City Government of Batac (CGB) conducted a Data Privacy Compliance Seminar and Workshop. It was held at North Stellar Hotel and Events Place on May 9, with CGB officials and employees, Sangguniang Barangay members, and Barangay Health Workers (BHW) as participants.

Local government units (LGUs) are responsible for managing and safeguarding personal data as part of their mandate. Therefore, it is crucial for LGUs to intensify their efforts in raising data privacy awareness and advancing data protection measures in compliance with Republic Act No. 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

CGB tapped personnel from the National Privacy Commission to lead lectures and workshops. The speakers included Mr. Cleo Martinez, Information Technology Officer II; Ms. Ma. Joanne B. Irabon, Legal Officer III; and Mr. Anthony F. Falcunaya, Information System Analyst I.

A key element of the one-day seminar was the workshop focused on crafting Data Privacy Notices for various services provided by the city government, barangays, and BHWs.

Vice Mayor Windell D. Chua, attended the event, expressing gratitude for the active involvement of all participants and stressing the significance of the seminar.

Additionally, SPM Bismark Angelo Quidang delivered the closing remarks, commending the participants for their active engagement and successful completion of the workshop.

The initiative was organized by the Data Protection Officer Designate Mr. Nikko Bautista under the supervision of City Administrator Atty. Kara Mae Aurora R. Chua, in partnership with the City HRMO & Public Employment Service Office – City of Batac led by Mr. Marlon F. Soria.
