The Chikiting Ligtas 2023 campaign of the Department of Health, targeting the vaccination of children against measles, rubella, and polio, has been officially launched in the City of Batac. The campaign particularly focuses on those who missed out on their routine immunization or were unable to receive their vaccines due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On May 4, the City Government headed by Mayor Albert D. Chua of Batac City, through the City Health Office led by Dr. Dimpna Cecilia D. Sare, inaugurated the Chikiting Ligtas 2023 campaign at the Baay Community Center.
The event was attended by Dr. Jimuel Cardenas from the DOH Center for Health Development I, MMMH&MC Medical Center Chief Dr. Ma. Lourdes K. Otayza, and Dr. Namrata Bhatta of the World Health Organization.
Referred to in our local dialect as kuribnas, kamuras, and polio, these illnesses can lead to severe health complications if not addressed. However, through accelerated immunization efforts, their occurrence and transmission can be significantly reduced.
During the launch, Mayor Chua expressed his commitment to the month-long campaign and called for the cooperation of his constituents to provide additional protection for the children in the community.
