CITY GOVERNMENT OF BATAC EXTENDS FREE GESTATIONAL DIABETES SCREENING TO PROTECT MOTHERS AND CHILDREN

·

The City Government of Batac (CGB), through the City Health Office (CHO), is taking a step forward in safeguarding the health of expectant mothers and their babies. The CHO is extending free gestational diabetes screenings to pregnant women in the community through Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT).

Launched today, June 9, the OGTT will be available throughout the year. It specifically targets pregnant women identified as overweight at a certain gestational period who seek prenatal consultation at CHO.

The CHO through Ms. Anne Bernadette Samsam, the city’s Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Nutrition Coordinator, advocates this program to ensure the health of both mother and child, while preventing possible complications related to Gestational Diabetes Mellitus.

The free gestational diabetes screening initiative underscores the city government’s promise of care at every life stage.
