As part of the Philippine Environment Month celebration and in anticipation of the forthcoming Environment Week this July, the City Government of Batac is fortifying its support for this year’s theme: Overcome Plastic Pollution, by hosting a poster-making competition.
This initiative seeks to elevate public awareness, driven by the alarming fact that approximately 25,000 kilograms of waste, a significant portion of which are plastics, are discarded daily at our city’s waste disposal site.
The competition, an initiative of the City’s Environment Management Section, had 20 participants from the public and private elementary and secondary schools in the city. Each participant underscored the urgency of reducing plastic waste and the crucial role of eco-friendly alternatives through visually impactful and creative poster designs.
Six winners emerged from the contest, each rewarded with a cash prize and a plaque of recognition for their impactful contributions. This initiative not only champions environmental advocacy, but also fosters creativity and the expression of ideas in our younger generations, making them crucial allies in the fight against plastic pollution.
