The inauguration of the Balay Silangan Reformation Center of the City of Batac took place today, June 1, marking a significant milestone in the city’s concerted efforts to strengthen its anti-drug abuse programs and building a more peaceful and orderly community.
Located at the Government Center, the Balay Silangan will temporarily utilize the first floor of the existing evacuation center to accommodate its initial batch consisting of 50 individuals.
Balay Silangan serves as a venue for in-house interventions with the objective of helping drug offenders become productive and law-abiding members of the community.
During his message, Mayor Albert D. Chua emphasized the reformation center’s significant role in the spiritual, psychosocial, and skill development of the beneficiaries. He further highlighted that the center’s impact extends beyond the beneficiaries themselves, contributing positively to the welfare of their families and the entire community.
Assistant Regional Director Seymour Darius Sanchez of PDEA expressed profound gratitude and appreciation towards the City Government of Batac for coming up with a comprehensive reformation program for the beneficiaries.
The event was graced by several key stakeholders, thereby enriching its significance. These included PDEA Assistant Regional Director, Seymour Darius Sanchez; PDEA Provincial Director, Darnel Bacate; DILG Provincial Director, Atty. Gerald Gallardo; PLTCOL Randy Baoit of INPPO, Schools Division Superintendent, Anselmo Aludino; Atty. Dandy Cruz of the Fiscal’s Office; JINSP Freddie Villon of BJMP Batac; CINSP Arnel Ratutita of BFP Batac; PLTCOL Adrian Gayuchan of PNP Batac; Mr. Rodel Hilario, CLGOO; Vice Mayor Windell D. Chua; Hon. Markee Chua; Punong Barangays; members of the religious sector; city government department heads; and other stakeholders.
The center was established through the effort of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council led by its Chairman, Mayor Albert D. Chua, in collaboration with PDEA Ilocos Norte.
