TRANSITIONING TO MODERN AGRICULTURE: MANGO FARMERS UNDERGO TRAINING ON NITRATE BASE FERTILIZER

To widen the knowledge on the process of securing a certification from the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority of the Department of Agriculture, the members of the Mango Stakeholder Association Incorporation participated in the one-day training on the Use and Acquisition of Nitrate Base Fertilizer as Flower Inducer Cum Sustaining the Mango Industry in the City of Batac.

The program was sponsored by the City Government of Batac and facilitated by the Office of the City Agriculturist on August 24. The training primarily aims to hone the skills of the farmers and sustain the transitional period of the agricultural sector towards modern agriculture by emphasizing imperatives of biocultural farming.

More than thirty participants attended and expressed their interest towards the program. And they were introduced with several topics which include: Implementing Rules and Regulation of Presidential Decree No. 1144, Different Kinds of Fertilizer and Safe Handling of Pesticide, Proper Distribution of Nitrate Fertilizer, Lecture on Basic Management and Production of Mango, and the Republic Act No. 9516.

City Vice Mayor, Atty. Windell D. Chua assured the participants that the city government is doing its best to holistically deliver assistance to the farmers of Batac.
