The City Government of Batac handed over the stipend of the 801 city scholars from grade 8 to grade 12 at the Imelda Cultural Center, on August 25, to serve as an immediate educational cash assistance for the commencement of the academic year 2023-2024.
Grade 8 to grade 10 students received 5,000 pesos while grade 11 to grade 12 students received 7,000 pesos. The city scholars are composed of 232 grade 8 students, 140 grade 9 students, 138 grade 10 students, 111 grade 11 students, and 180 grade 12 students, respectively. The stipend is given every academic year until the end of the signed scholarship contract.
The priority beneficiaries of the city scholarship program are the less fortunate but deserving students, coming from low-income families with 166,000 pesos annual gross income of both parents.
Mayor Albert D. Chua together with Vice Mayor Windell D. Chua and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod graced the distribution to reinforce the city government’s constant support to the young learners.
