·

In celebration of the Tourism Month this September, the City Government of Batac through the Tourism and Events Section organized an array of activities that proudly showcase the rich culture of Batacqueños with a focus on culinary tourism.

One of the most anticipated events is the Batac Culinary Challenge featuring the Batac Sitcheron as the main ingredient, which was recently concluded at the Imelda Cultural Center last September 26. The participants, made of three-man teams, were young culinary enthusiasts from the 12 different secondary schools in the City of Batac.

Crispina Marcos Valdez National High School emerged as the winner taking home a cash prize of 10,000 pesos, followed by the City of Batac National High School Rayuray on the second place taking home a cash prize of 8,000 pesos, and the City of Batac National High School Poblacion in the third place taking home 6,000 pesos. The top three were also given a trophy and certificate, while the other 9 participating teams were given 3,000 pesos each as consolation prize.

Mayor Albert D. Chua shared his appreciation for the overwhelming student participation and the event’s success. He envisions this as a stepping stone to a flourishing culinary tourism scene, emphasizing Batac’s diverse culinary offerings.
