1000 indigent citizens received a pack of 5 kilos rice each from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines through the City Government of Batac this February 19, 20, and 21.
The beneficiaries were chosen through a cross-referenced list of indigents through Community-based Monitoring System data, and lists of indigents submitted by barangays.
Sangguniang Panlungsod members were in attendance during the distribution at various community centers within the city.
Hon. Markee Chua extended the city government’s message of hope, relaying the intentions and programs of Mayor Albert D. Chua for helping indigents. He urged the recipients to write to the Office of the City Mayor whenever they need financial, medical, educational or burial assistance, reiterating that the city officials are at their service. Distribution was facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
