On February 6, the City Government of Batac distributed starter kits for school gardens to all the 27 Elementary Schools and 13 Senior and Junior High Schools of the city.
Held at Hilario Valdez Memorial Elementary School, the distribution was led by City Mayor Albert D. Chua, and the Office of the City Agriculturist.
On behalf of each school, principals, and school heads received the starter kits which consist of hybrid vegetable seeds and a set of gardening tools that include a stainless water sprinkler, a pail, and seedling trays.
Granted by the CGB, the project is directed to help the city’s schools in their implementation of the Department of Education’s Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP), a program that promotes healthy eating, as well as sustainable living to the youth.
Sangguniang Panlungsod members were in attendance together with SDS Anselmo Aludino CESO VI, and Asst. SDS Arnel S. Bandiola.
