The distribution of stipends for the months of January and February has started yesterday, February 26, at the Imelda Cultural Center. By completion, 435 Batac City College Scholars from different colleges and universities is set to receive their stipends.
City Mayor Albert D. Chua spoke an inspirational message to the scholars, reminding them of the value of education, and expressing the city’s purpose in helping provide the youth quality education.
Sangguniang Panlungsod members attended the distribution with Vice Mayor Windell Chua D. Chua sharing the good news that the city will be increasing scholars’ stipends within the following months to make sure that the scholarship program stays effective with today’s high prices. Hon. Markee Chua also pitched in, encouraging the scholars to study hard as they are the future of Batac.
Currently, scholars are given 1500 pesos per month from the city for those enrolled within Batac, and 2000 pesos each month for those enrolled outside Batac to cover travelling expenses.
