To relieve the impact of drought on the agricultural sector, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, under the leadership of Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, has partnered with the Department of Agriculture to distribute financial assistance to affected farmers and fisherfolk.
On August 20, Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc spearheaded the distribution of the Presidential Assistance to drought affected farmers and fisherfolk from the City of Batac, and the Municipalities of Paoay and San Nicolas. Out of 954 beneficiaries from the three towns, each receiving a Php10,000 cash grant, 528 recipients were from Batac.
The distribution was also attended by the officials of the City of Batac led by Mayor Albert D. Chua, Mayor Shiela Galano of Paoay, and Vice Mayor Napoleon Hernando of San Nicolas.
Farmers who did not qualify for this cash assistance program are assured to receive other forms of aid, such as cash-for-work opportunities and fuel subsidies to support their needs.
