Mayor Albert D. Chua spearheaded the distribution of 1,000 diesel-fed engine water pumps to local farmers on December 5, 2024, at the Tabug Community Center.
The beneficiaries of the program are farmers registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), ensuring the assistance reaches those who need it most.
To maximize the pumps’ impact, the city has implemented a borrowing system. Each pump will be shared by two to four farmers under a 1:2 or 1:4 ratios, promoting collaboration and efficient resource utilization within the farming community.
This batch is now among the 3,000 beneficiaries of this project of the City Government, which began in 2022. Looking ahead, Mayor Chua announced plans to purchase additional water pumps in 2025, aiming to achieve a 1:1 pump-to-farmer ratio. This will further ensure that every registered farmer in Batac City will have access to their own water pump, strengthening the city’s agricultural sector.
