BATAC HOSTS INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING CELEBRATION

·

The City of Batac hosted this year’s celebration of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, led by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB). The event was highlighted by a Youth Parade that gathered more than 2,000 delegates from across Ilocos Norte.

DDB Secretary Oscar Valenzuela led the celebration, together with Undersecretary Earl Saavedra. The event was also supported by key partner agencies including the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) represented by Assistant Regional Director Paulino Lalata Jr., and the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte led by Governor-elect Cecilia Araneta Marcos. National government agencies stationed in the province also showed strong support and active participation.

Also a major highlight of the celebration was the blessing and inauguration of the City of Batac’s Community-Based Treatment and Rehabilitation Facility — a project funded by the DDB to support the city’s commitment to a drug-free community.
