The cities of Batac and Cagayan de Oro have embarked on a journey of mutual growth and collaboration as they officially sealed their sister city relationship. In a ceremony led by Mayor Albert D. Chua of Batac and Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy of CDO, the agreement was signed on November 7, 2023 at the Tourism Hall of Cagayan de Oro City Hall.
This partnership forges a new era of cooperation, fostering stronger ties of friendship and mutual benefits. It symbolizes a commitment to shared progress and cultural exchange between the two cities.
The momentous event was witnessed by the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod from both cities. Also in attendance were department and section heads from both cities, who utilized the occasion to share insights and best practices.
Moreover, the delegation of the City Government of Batac also took the initiative to benchmark the best practices of CDO, particularly in the areas of volunteerism and active citizenship. CDOs reputation as an emerging hub of volunteerism in the country offers valuable lessons and inspiration for Batac as it seeks to enhance its own community engagement and civic participation.
