December-born senior citizens who has reached their 90th to 100th birthdays received their cash incentives for the city’s Centenarian Citizens’ Award last February 22, and 23.
Nonagenarians (ages 90-95) and pre-centenarians (ages 95-99) made up 30 of the recipients while one was a centenarian (age 100) in the name of Remedios Bongay Tapac from Brgy. San Julian.
The City Government of Batac under the leadership of Mayor Albert D. Chua expresses recognition to elders for having admirably survived the challenges of life by way of the Expanded Batac Pre-Centenarian and Centenarian Citizens’ Award Ordinance.
Through the ordinance, a centenarian receives an incentive of Php 20,000. Meanwhile, Php 12,000 is awarded to pre-centenarians aged 99 years old, Php 8,000 to those aged 98, and Php 6,000 to ages 96-97. Lastly, nonagenarians aged 94-95, and 90-93 are given Php 4,000 and Php 3,000 respectively.
The Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs led by Mrs. Viraluz Raguindin, and the City Social Welfare and Development Office facilitated the house-to-house awarding, accompanied by Sangguniang Panlungsod Members Markee Chua, Kichel Pungtilan, and Violeta Nalupta.
