BARANGAY SUMADER PREPARES FOR THE PROVINCIAL SEARCH FOR THE BEST GULAYAN SA BARANGAY

In preparation for the upcoming provincial competition and the launching of Model Gulayan sa Barangay, the officials of Gulayan sa Barangay of Sumader undergoes seminar-training facilitated by the Department of Agriculture today, July 21.

The participants led by Punong Barangay Josephine Guiang were given practical training on various aspects of vegetable production. It covered topics such as identifying and managing common insect pests and diseases affecting vegetables, and product presentation to further enhance their winning Gulayan from the city-wide competition.

Vice Mayor Windell D. Chua highlighted the significance of Gulayan sa Barangay as not only a sustainable food source but also a unifying project that fosters creativity among the residents in sustaining and nourishing the area. Furthermore, Vice Mayor Chua encouraged participants to promote replication and expansion of the Gulayan concept from one household to another, thereby inspiring and educating other barangays.

Apart from a year-round plan of action and line-up of activities to combat malnutrition and food insecurity, the City Government of Batac conducts an annual search for best Gulayan sa Barangay to consistently realize an affordable, accessible, and inclusive healthy lifestyle for all.
