Today, the City of Batac in partnership with the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office paid tribute to one of its most venerable sons, Gen. Artemio Ricarte, fondly remembered as the “Father of the Philippine Army.” The commemoration of the 157th Birth Anniversary took place at the Ricarte National Park and Shrine.
The wreath-laying ceremony was spearheaded by LTGEN Roy M. Galido, the Commanding General of the Philippine Army.
Mayor Albert D. Chua expressed his sentiments, emphasizing the indelible mark left by Gen. Ricarte on the history of Batac and the entire nation. Also present to honor the legacy of Gen. Ricarte were Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc, city and provincial officials, officers from the Philippine Army, representatives from various government institutions, government workers, and students who came to pay their respects.
The event was not just a reflection of the past but a beacon of inspiration for the younger generations, reminding them of the unparalleled sacrifices made by our forebears for the nation’s freedom and sovereignty.
